Join the Parkinson’s community at UAB Campus Green on University Boulevard for a 5K run (you can also walk the 5K) and 1 Mile Walk to raise money for Parkinson’s research. 5K will begin at 8 a.m. and 1 Mile walk will start at 8:30 a.m. If you do not pre-register, you may register at the event from 6:30am-7:45 a.m. Online registration will close 30 minutes before race start time and t-shirts will be given to those registrants on a first-come first-served basis at the race. 100% of net proceeds will go to UAB Parkinson’s research to find a cure! We want you to be there and tell your friends and family!

100% of all donations fund vital Parkinson’s research at UAB, and also help fund support groups, physical therapy equipment and resources for patients, caregivers and families.
Founded in 1978, the Parkinson Association of Alabama (PAA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to a singular mission: To improve the quality of life for patients, caregivers, and families affected by Parkinson’s Disease in the State of Alabama. We do this in a variety of ways that include: providing support, distributing information, increasing awareness, amplifying local programs, encouraging collaboration, and supporting research to lead to new and improved treatments for Parkinson’s disease that will ultimately lead to a cure.
How to wear your Bib-Tag Timing Chip:
5K participants will have a timing chip on the back side of their bib number which will provide timed race results. [Click Here] to see details on how to wear your Bib-Tag Timing Chip. Please wear your bib number on the FRONT of your shirt during the race. Remember to bring your bib number race day. No bib number means no recorded time. The timing chip is located on the back side of your bib number.
Entry fee is non-refundable. This event will occur rain or shine, warm or cold. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event, there will be no refunds, rather, your entry fee will be used as a donation to the Parkinson Association of Alabama.
Transfer of Registration Policy:
Entry fee is non-refundable. Participants can transfer their online registration (Online Only) until October 1, 2019. After October 1, 2019, registrations are non-transferable. [Click Here] to learn more about how to transfer your registration.
Bandit Policy: Bandits are unregistered runners or walkers attempting to participate in the run or walk events. Running with No registration is not permitted in the 5K, 1 Mile Walk. Please be sure to register for the Alabama Parkinson 5K, 1 Mile Walk, so that you can enjoy all that the race has to offer. Everyone in the 5K, 1 Mile Walk will need to wear their Bib Number that shows you are a registered participant. All proceeds of the event go to the Parkinson Association of Alabama.
Pets at the Race: UAB does not allow pets at UAB Campus Green, but if you choose to bring your pet, all pets must be on a leach. Please clean up after your pet. Actions of the pet are the responsibility of the pet owner/caretaker.
Strollers at the Race: If you are participating with a stroller and/or children, we ask that you keep your children with you at all times, and that you start from the back of the starting line. This will allow your family members, and our other participants, a safer race experience.
